An unpeated Highland malt made at the foot of Dumgoyne since 1833, its stills in the Highlands and its warehouses across the road in the Lowlands.

A traffic cone is thought to have sat on the head of the Duke of Wellington's statue in Glasgow since at least the 1980s.

Members of the public have been putting it back for decades on the statue outside the Gallery of Modern Art, in Royal Exchange Square. In 2013 Glasgow City Council proposed a £65,000 restoration that would have doubled the height of the plinth. The plan met strong opposition: more than 10,000 people signed an online petition against it, a rally was held, and the council withdrew it. The cone stayed, and in June 2023 the artist Banksy called the statue his favourite work of art in the UK.

Vera has opened on Nithsdale Road on Glasgow's Southside, with a head chef from Unalome and Cail Bruich.

A short menu of plates for sharing that changes with the seasons: an early Sunday lunch ran from a flatbread with aged Comté to barbecued porchetta with preserved lemon. The name is Latin for true.
