The Way Taste

A small Chinese restaurant at 65 Clerk Street in Newington, open every day for lunch and dinner, with a takeaway.

Welcome

Clerk Street, running south from the university towards Newington, has some of the city's best small Chinese restaurants, and The Way Taste at number 65 is a good one to know.

It's a simple, bright room a few doors along from Taste of Home, and the cooking is generous and full of flavour: bowls of noodles and soup, braised dishes in cast-iron pots, and plenty of chilli for anyone who wants it. The Good Food Guide's eating guide to Edinburgh names it for dinner. It's open every day from half past eleven in the morning to half past nine at night, so it works just as well for a quick lunch between museums as for an easy evening meal, and there's a takeaway and delivery too. Children are welcome, and the Meadows are a five-minute walk away when you've finished.
