Condita
A restaurant with a Michelin star and twelve seats on Salisbury Place, on Edinburgh's south side, serving a surprise tasting menu in the evenings from Tuesday to Saturday.
There's something special about a restaurant with only a handful of tables, and Condita, on Salisbury Place on Edinburgh's south side, seats just twelve guests.
It holds a Michelin star, and dinner is a surprise tasting menu, so you sit down at a candlelit table without knowing what's coming and let the evening unfold over about two and a half hours. The kitchen cooks with wild and organic Scottish fish, shellfish, meat and game, with produce foraged from the hedgerows and the seashore, and vegetables, fruit and herbs from its own garden. One of its two kitchens is in the dining room, and the chefs and the front of house explain every dish as it arrives. The decor changes with the seasons, and there's no dress code. It opens in the evenings from Tuesday to Saturday, by reservation only, and a vegetarian or pescatarian dinner can be arranged when you book. Keep this one for a grown-up night out.

Dinner only, from Tuesday to Saturday, by reservation.
Ask for a table through the form on its own site; it writes back to confirm and takes a deposit.
