Welcome

There's a lot to be said for a coffee shop that roasts its own beans, and Cult, on Buccleuch Street by the east end of the Meadows, does just that.

After years of growing the cafe, the team started roasting at their own roastery outside the city, with a strong focus on the seasons, so the coffee changes through the year. Alongside it there's breakfast, brunch and lunch, with plenty for vegetarians, and a few seats outside on a fine day. Dogs are welcome too. It's open every day, from 8am on weekdays and 9am at weekends, until 5pm, which makes it an easy stop on a walk across the Meadows or before a morning at the National Museum of Scotland on Chambers Street. If you like what you drink, the same coffee can be ordered from its website and brewed at home, so you can keep a little of Edinburgh in the kitchen cupboard.
