Welcome

If you love a love story, this is the bookshop for you.

Book Lovers is the UK's first bricks-and-mortar romance bookshop, a pretty pink-fronted shop on Melville Terrace on Edinburgh's south side, a few minutes' walk from the Meadows. Caden Armstrong, who moved to Scotland and took a master's degree in publishing here, opened it in 2024 with help from a crowdfunder, and in May 2026 it was named the UK's Independent Bookshop of the Year at the British Book Awards. The shelves hold romance in every form, from contemporary, historical and sports romance to romantasy, paranormal and teen reads, with special editions, graphic novels and a little non-fiction too. The booksellers are always glad to point you to your next favourite. Through the year there are signings, author evenings and late-night shopping, and the shop will order in any book you're after. It opens Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 6pm, and takes cards only in the shop.
