The Hug and Pint
An all-vegan bar, Asian-fusion kitchen and small music venue on Great Western Road, with gigs downstairs most nights since 2015.
The Hug and Pint on Great Western Road has been one of the West End's liveliest places for music and food since it opened in 2015 as a live music space, and everything it serves is vegan.
The bar and restaurant sit behind a dark front with the name in lights, and a staircase at the back leads to the small venue where bands play most nights of the week, from local newcomers to touring acts and tribute nights.
The kitchen cooks an Asian-fusion menu with no animal products at all: noodle bowls piled with pickles, spring onion and crisp chilli, rice bowls, kimchi and little sides, served until nine every evening. The bar pours craft beer and cider, a changing list of wine and spirits, and cocktails, with a deal on margaritas, espresso martinis and Aperol spritzes. The venue downstairs has no wheelchair access. The Hug and Pint opens at 5pm from Monday to Thursday and at 3pm from Friday to Sunday, and closes at midnight.
