Welcome

Valhalla's Goat is a cheerful bottle shop on Great Western Road at Kelvinbridge, its shelves stacked floor to ceiling with what it calls liquid treasures.

It specialises in boutique wines, craft beers and ciders, Scottish spirits, specialist whiskies and artisanal liqueurs, and the staff love nothing more than a good chat about what to try next. For a present, look out for its whisky and gin gift sets of four small bottles from around Scotland, each with its tasting notes, and gift-wrapping is free. Come on a Thursday, a Friday or most Saturdays and you can join a free, casual tasting, from a new beer to a glass of wine or a spirit poured by one of its suppliers. It's in the middle of a lovely run of West End shops and cafés, so it's easy to pair with lunch nearby. The shop is open every day, from 11am to 8pm and from noon on Sundays.
