Welcome

Black Pine is a coffee roaster, café and bakery on Great Western Road at Kelvinbridge.

It roasts its own beans, and the bags on the shelf come from named farms and growers. Recent bags have included Mutambu Hill from Burundi, which tastes of yellow plum and honey, El Carmen from Guatemala, and a natural decaf from Colombia. Each is marked for espresso, filter or both.

The café is small, with a black front and gold lettering on the window, a pale wooden counter and a handful of tables and stools, and a window seat for watching the road. The bakery fills the counter with bagels, pastries and cakes. It opens at eight on weekdays and nine at the weekend, and closes in the afternoon. Beans, gift cards and brewing kit such as the AeroPress are sold to take home.

Hidden Scotland, the magazine

Scotland, in print.

We want to show you the best that Scotland has to offer. The makers and the creatives, the enduring experiences, the evocative tales, the concealed corners. The roads less travelled that take you to places that matter. The adventures that gather you up and sweep you away. The blend of the wild and the artistic that makes Scotland what it is. We’d love for you to join us.
