Roots, Fruits and Flowers

More than forty years on it has grown into one of the city's favourite food markets, with a fruit and veg shop, a wholefoods store, a delicatessen, a florist and a café all under one roof.

Outside, crates of fruit and buckets of flowers spill onto the pavement. Inside, the shelves run floor to ceiling with organic groceries, oils, spices and speciality foods for any diet, the counters are stacked with sourdough loaves and fresh pastries, and the deli has salads, sandwiches and homemade vegan and vegetarian dishes to take away. The café, round the corner on Otago Street behind an arched window, serves brunch, lunch and artisan coffee seven days a week. The shops open from half past seven in the morning, nine on Sunday, and the café from nine until four. There is a second shop on Argyle Street in Finnieston.
