Willow Grove is a speciality coffee shop on Sauchiehall Street, on the west side of Charing Cross, and it says of itself that it serves coffee but is not your typical coffee shop.

A sign over the counter says fàilte, welcome, and the counter below is laden with cakes, scones and sandwiches under chalkboard menus.

The coffee comes whichever way suits you: espresso, piccolo and flat white, filter batch brew, pour-over through a Chemex or a V60, and cold brew and iced lattes in warm weather, with homemade syrups to try. The beans are sold to take home. There is food too: soups, sandwiches and pastries, poached eggs on toast with ham and hollandaise, beetroot-topped toast, scones, and dense chocolate brownies scattered with rose petals and pistachios, with loose tea in jars. It is a relaxed, friendly place to meet someone or sit a while by the window. Willow Grove opens Monday to Friday from half past eight until half past four, and on Saturday from nine until four. It is closed on Sunday.
