Power from the glens.
The centre's main exhibition tells how hydro schemes brought power from the Highland glens.

SSE's visitor centre above the Pitlochry dam on the Tummel, with exhibitions on hydro power and the salmon, a cafe over the water and the fish ladder below.
Where the River Tummel leaves Loch Faskally at Pitlochry, a great concrete dam of the 1940s holds back the water, its power station standing square beside the spillway.
Above it, set into the hillside among the trees, is a modern visitor centre of glass and timber, with long views over the dam and up the loch.
Inside, an exhibition called Power from the Glens tells the story of the hydro schemes that brought electricity to the Highlands, and another follows the salmon that swim up the Tummel each year to spawn. Beside the dam, a fish ladder of pools lets them climb past it. A walkway runs across the top of the dam, and the loch lies still behind it, reflecting the wooded hills.
The cafe looks straight out over the water, with coffee, cakes and a deli menu. The centre opens from Tuesday to Sunday, and the footpath over the dam is always open.
Open Tuesday to Sunday from ten until half past four, closed on Mondays.
The footpath across the dam is open at all times.
