From Sunday the 31st of  August to Thursday the 4th September 2025, Mull and Iona host Mendelssohn on Mull, a week-long residency led by the Maxwell Quartet. Each concert features the quartet joined by young string players from UK conservatoires, performing programmes that combine standard chamber repertoire with locally informed music. Performances take place in community venues across the islands—including Tobermory, Craignure, Dervaig, Iona and Salen—with audiences invited to pay what they wish. Concerts are woven into daily life on Mull, with early and evening slots, and younger artists supported through the Mull Music Makers initiative. The festival balances musical ambition with island hospitality.
