Ninth Wave Restaurant
A croft restaurant near Fionnphort on Mull, where Carla Lamont cooks long lunches from John's catch and their garden.
Ninth Wave is a restaurant on a croft on the moors near Fionnphort, at the south-western tip of Mull, run by John and Carla Lamont.
Carla, the chef, was a quarter-finalist on MasterChef: The Professionals, and her cooking brings together the best of Scottish produce with the Asian and Pacific Northwest flavours of her Canadian heritage. John fishes from their small boat, the Sonsie, and brings lobster, crab, hand-dived scallops and fish to the kitchen live each day; the croft garden supplies herbs grown from heirloom seed, moorland leaves, flowers and roots, and meat and seafood are cured, smoked and brined on site with bog myrtle, thyme, heather and sorrel.
Today it serves long lunches of four or five courses, with Carla talking through each course and showing guests round her herb garden. It is seasonal and closes on 1 October; many dates go to tours, so book well ahead. The name comes from Celtic sea lore, where the land of other-worldly delights begins at the ninth wave.

Lunches of four or five courses, by booking only.
