Isle of Iona
Iona Craft Shop
Overview
Just a short walk from the ferry, Iona Craft Shop sits in a whitewashed building just before the Nunnery ruins. Open since 1965, it’s still one of the best places on the island to find thoughtful books, well-made textiles, island-inspired gifts, and knitwear made from Iona wool. Most of the stock is Scottish-made, with a strong focus on local makers and natural materials.
Inside, there’s a small coffee counter offering takeaway drinks and home baking. It’s a good spot to pick something up before heading to the Abbey. There’s also a bench outside if you want to pause and look over the village road toward the hills.
The shop is also where you’ll find bike hire, with a small number of rentals available during the season. If you’re visiting in summer, booking ahead is a good idea.
Opening hours run from April to October, Monday to Saturday, usually 10am to 5pm. If you’re planning to browse properly, it’s worth going in early.
Location: On the main road, 2 minutes from the ferry pier
Open: April–October, Mon–Sat, 10am–5pm
