Its name is its theme: the world, and in particular its most cosmopolitan cities.

Upstairs, eighteen bedrooms are each inspired by a different city. Downstairs, the bar runs long beneath hanging lights and greenery, with a marble counter, high stools and a floor laid in bold chevrons, and there is a champagne bar and a cocktail bar for the evening. The kitchen serves globally inspired small plates and bowls through the day, with burgers, sandwiches and salads, and afternoon tea for anyone with an hour to spare. Late at night the hotel's own club, Shanghai, takes over.

The bar opens every day from breakfast until late into the night, a few minutes' walk from St Andrew Square and Princes Street.
