Killiehuntly Farmhouse has looked out over the Cairngorm mountains since 1850, and today it's an easy-going small hotel of five rooms near Kingussie, run by WildLand.

Inside, the old Highland farmhouse meets calm Danish design: pale wooden floors, soft grey-green walls, sheepskins over the chairs and open fires in the sitting rooms. Breakfast and a relaxed three-course supper are part of the stay, served round one long shared table, and there's a packed lunch to take out into the hills. Pour a drink from the honesty bar before dinner, or head out to the sauna yurt among the trees and its cold plunge. Children aged ten and over are welcome.

We wish to restore our parts of the Highlands to their former magnificent natural state.

Killiehuntly Farmhouse stands on WildLand's Killiehuntly estate near Kingussie, on the edge of Glen Feshie in the Cairngorms National Park, with woodland and hills all round.

Kingussie is the nearest town for shops.
