Haddo House

An elegant stately home found around 20 miles from Aberdeen, Haddo House still showcases the Palladian luxury of its heyday, with a large art collection and a prim terraced garden. It was designed back in 1732 by architect William Adam, then remodelled – to tremendous effect – in the 1880s. This majestic Aberdeenshire stately home dates back to 1732 and was the home of the Gordon family for more than 500 years. 

Built to replace Kellie Castle which was previously located on the site, Haddo House was designed by William Adam in a Palladian style, but was later remodelled, extended and even had parts destroyed by fire, giving it the striking combination of Palladian heart, opulent Victorian interior and Georgian touches we see today. Surrounding the house are palatial gardens, stunningly landscaped – the vision of the 4th Earl of Aberdeen who transformed the farmland in the late 19th century.
