Garioch Heritage Centre
The story of the north-east told in a converted building of the old Inverurie locomotive works.
Inverurie was a railway town, home to the historic Inverurie Locomotive Works.
The Garioch Heritage Centre is housed in one of the works' old industrial buildings, listed for its history and beautifully converted.
The permanent exhibition, fully accessible, tells the story of the north-east from the early twentieth century to today, and there are changing temporary exhibitions alongside it. The centre is a busy cultural hub for the area as well, with live theatre, music and craft workshops through the year, and a library and reading area where local history can be researched, with a growing store of digitised records.
Café Loco does home-baked treats and light lunches, and there is parking on site, with private guided tours by appointment. It is open year round. The Brandsbutt Stone, a Pictish stone with an Ogham inscription, is close by in the town.

Open year round, with Café Loco, parking and private guided tours by appointment.
