Forest Farm Organic Dairy

Scotland's first organic dairy farm, at Kinellar outside Aberdeen, with its own milk on refill, a gelateria and gelato garden, and a pizzeria.

Welcome

At Kinellar, just outside Aberdeen, Forest Farm became Scotland's first organic dairy farm in 1998.

Anthony and Anne Willis bought it in 1989, when it was still Glasgoforest Farm, gave up the sprays, planted hedges and worked with nature, and today Anne and her sons run it with their team and a small herd of organic cows.

The farm's milk is sold on refill, straight from the farm, so bring a glass bottle. The same milk goes into the gelato, made by hand in the gelateria and eaten in an award-winning garden that glows after dark under hundreds of little lights; the old milk churns the family brought from Wiltshire stand outside the door. There are gelato cakes and thickshakes too.

The pizzeria makes pizza by hand on the farm to a Neapolitan recipe, to eat there or take away. The family is working towards net zero, from the soil to the sale.
