Stewart Park

Just south of Persley Bridge in the north of Aberdeen, Stewart Park has been open to the public since 1894, when the land was purchased by Aberdeen City Council. It is named after a former Lord Provost of the city, Sir David Stewart. As well as a play park and playing fields, Stewart Park also boasts some interesting features. An intricate fountain, designed by local sculptor Arthur Taylor, was created to replicate an Italian lavabo (sink) and has had a home in the part since 1903. Meanwhile, there is also an intriguing whale jawbone. The 10-foot high feature was presented to the park by the Captain of the Artic Whaler Benbow, also in 1903.
