Welcome

Fat Batch on Elmbank Terrace is a family bakery and coffee shop built on one bake: the brookie, a rich, fudgy cross between a brownie and a cookie.

Eve started it during lockdown, when her brookie boxes sold out within seconds on Instagram, and with Michael, who began as chief taste tester and is now co-owner and chief barista, she opened this pale green shop in 2022. The counter is full of brookies, cookies, blondies and crispies, in flavours that change every week, with espresso, lattes and mochas to go with them, and sorbet coolers topped with an ice lolly on a warm day. Dogs are made very welcome, with puppuccinos and a doggy pick and mix of their own. If you can't get there, loaded cookie boxes and whole slabs can be ordered through its own site for delivery. It's north of the city centre, a short walk from Old Aberdeen, and opens Wednesday to Sunday.
