Welcome

There's something special about a restaurant that has travelled a long way to reach you, and Avery came all the way from San Francisco.

Its chef, Rodney Wages, cooked at The French Laundry in California before opening the first Avery there, and it won a Michelin star in 2021. He fell for Edinburgh on holiday and brought his family and his restaurant here, to a Georgian townhouse on St Stephen Street in Stockbridge. The dining room is dark and intimate, with stone walls and big modern paintings, and the cooking takes Scotland's best produce, meat and seafood and gives it a light Californian touch. Michelin awarded the Edinburgh Avery a star of its own in the 2026 guide. The drinks pairing brings together wine, sake, sherry and a dram of single malt whisky. Dinner is served from Tuesday to Saturday, with seatings from 5pm, and every table is booked online through Tock, so plan ahead for a special night out.
