Welcome

There's something lovely about a neighbourhood restaurant that cooks with the seasons, and Vera, on Nithsdale Road on Glasgow's South Side, opened in September 2026 to do just that.

Its name is the Latin word for true, and good ingredients, thoughtful cooking and warm hospitality come first. Start with snacks such as focaccia with whipped tofu and vegetable XO, or an octopus and pork skewer with kumquat hot sauce. Then there's pasta, from agnolotti in a roast mushroom broth to linguine with Arbroath smokie and horseradish, and mains such as St Brides chicken or a dry-aged steak for two. Save room for the barbecued lemon ice cream, or a dark chocolate choux bun to share. At lunchtime a set menu of three courses costs £25, which makes it an easy treat in the middle of the day. Vera opens from Wednesday to Sunday, from noon, and tables are booked online through its own site.
