There's something lovely about a neighbourhood wine bar where someone knows exactly what to pour you, and the Green Room, on William Street in the West End, is that kind of place.

The wines come from small, independent winemakers, many of them organic and made by hand, and the sommelier, Ghislain, is always happy to suggest a glass. The bar has an unusual story too: it's run by ten owners, among them wine importers, a vineyard owner and neighbours from round the corner. The food comes on small plates made for sharing, with flavours from all over the world, from Vietnamese pork tacos to Indonesian sweetcorn fritters, and there are bigger plates such as flank steak with frites. It's open from 2pm Monday to Wednesday and from noon Thursday to Saturday, and you can book a table online.
