Teuchters
A freehouse on William Street in the West End, open since 2001, with 140 single malts, Scottish cask and keg beers and pub classics, and a favourite with rugby fans.
There's something about a proper whisky pub on a winter's night, and Teuchters, tucked away on William Street in the West End, is one of Edinburgh's best loved.
It has been an independent freehouse for almost twenty-five years, and its collection of 140 single malts is the heart of the bar, alongside Scottish cask and keg beers from the country's best breweries. Try your luck at the hoop of destiny, or settle into a corner with a dram. The food is pub classics done well, from sausage and mash and fish and chips to mugs of Cullen skink, served every day until 9.30pm. It's a favourite with rugby fans heading to Murrayfield, and dogs on a lead are welcome, except on big match days. The name came from a brother's joke that the two founders, both from the north, were just a couple of teuchters. Princes Street and Haymarket station are both five minutes' walk away.
