Selkie's Haven Lodge
For two, with one bedroom and room for the dog.
Selkie's Haven is a little white lodge for two, tucked into a cove on the Dunskey coast between two old ports, right on the Southern Upland Way.
Its two pointed roofs were built to watch the moon, and inside it's bright and full of colour, with a hanging egg chair, botanical prints and arched windows onto the sea. There's a full kitchen, underfloor heating and a Frame TV. Outside you'll find an outdoor bath and shower, a Big Green Egg, a fire pit and a hammock, with the tides and the wind for company. It suits solo travellers and couples.
A seemingly endless supply of magic and wonder exists across our slice of coastal Scotland.
The kitchen is full-sized and fully equipped, with a starter pack of dish soap, sponges, kitchen roll and laundry detergent.

The lodge sits on the shore of Dunskey Estate northwest of Portpatrick, between the coves of Port Mora and Port Kale, where the 1854 telegraph cable to Ireland once came ashore.
The village and its harbour are reachable along the clifftop path or a short drive round, and the estate's 2,000 acres of glen, loch and woodland rise behind. Killantringan Lighthouse marks the coast a little further north. Stranraer is eight miles for supermarkets and trains, Cairnryan's ferries 20 minutes, Glasgow around two hours by car.
