Castle of St. John

This medieval tower house, constructed around 1500 by Ninian Adair of Kilhurst, one of Wigtownshire's most influential lairds, offers a fantastic day out.

Experience engaging videos and reconstructions that narrate the story of the medieval landowners who built and resided in the castle. Discover the history of the Government troops who used the castle as their headquarters during the Killing Times in the 1680s, and learn about the criminals and debtors imprisoned here in the 19th century.
