Welcome

Rua is a gift shop on Morningside Road, run by a husband and wife, Cara and James.

Its dark shopfront has its name in white above the window and a pink neon heart glowing inside. Rua began in Dublin in 2012, and after its owners moved to Scotland it was reborn here in Morningside.

The shop is small and crammed with colour. Its own range of greetings cards covers one wall, and the rest is an eclectic mix of homewares, furniture, prints, candles, toys and gifts, with plenty made by local makers. Two cats are said to help run it.

Rua opens from Monday to Saturday, from ten until five, and its shop online sends gifts across the country.

Scotland, in print.

We want to show you the best that Scotland has to offer. The makers and the creatives, the enduring experiences, the evocative tales, the concealed corners. The roads less travelled that take you to places that matter. The adventures that gather you up and sweep you away. The blend of the wild and the artistic that makes Scotland what it is. We’d love for you to join us.
