The Hermitage Bar
A pub in a curving corner building at the heart of Morningside, by the clock, with locally sourced food, live music and a quiz.
At the heart of Morningside, where Comiston Road and Morningside Road meet by the old clock, a handsome sandstone building curves round the corner, and its whole ground floor is the Hermitage Bar.
A long sweep of tall windows looks out on the junction, with tables out on the pavement under umbrellas in good weather.
Inside, the room is big and bright under a high corniced ceiling, with stone-clad pillars and a long blue-panelled bar lined with stools. The food is fresh and locally sourced, with bread from a local baker, and runs from fish and chips and burgers to brunch at the weekend. Behind the bar there is a good range of draught beers, rums, single malts and cocktails. There is live music on some nights, and a pub quiz.
The Hermitage opens every day from noon until late. Children are welcome until ten in the evening, and so are dogs.
