No88 Kitchen and Bar stands at 88 Commercial Street, the old main street of Lerwick, and it has been cooking there since 2020.

It is a family business, run by John and Karen Arellano. John, the head chef, grew up in the Philippines on seafood and hand-picked fruit and vegetables, in a home where the kitchen was the heart of everything, and that simple, fresh cooking still shapes his food.

The menu is built on Shetland's own produce and changes with the season, as the island's farmers, crofters, fishermen, butchers and even home bakers advise, and boards and maps round the room tell you who grew or caught what. By day the room is bright and airy, for coffee, lunch or a cocktail; by night it is a relaxed place for dinner and a drink. The cocktails follow the seasons too, from a Shetland Haar Fizz to an espresso martini, and the beer comes from Lerwick Brewery. It was a finalist in the Highlands and Islands Awards 2026.
