Fjarå Café Bar
A café bar on the rocks of Breiwick Bay in Lerwick, with windows on the sea, from breakfast to cocktails.
Fjarå stands on the rocks of Sea Road at the edge of Lerwick, on a small point of land running out into Breiwick Bay, with big windows and a deck looking straight onto the water.
It is locally owned, and it covers the whole day: coffee and breakfast in the morning, sandwiches at lunch, and burgers and cocktails at night.
The coffee is its own, a mix of Brazilian, El Salvador and Indian beans ground on site, smooth, with notes of caramel and dark chocolate. The food is bistro cooking built on Shetland produce, with separate breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner menus, and the drinks run to Shetland beers and spirits, a long wine list and cocktails. Seals often haul out on the rocks just below the windows, and the café keeps a webcam on them. It is closed on Mondays; from Tuesday to Saturday it opens from 8am to 10pm, and on Sunday from 9am to 5pm.

Tuesday to Saturday 8am to 10pm, Sunday 9am to 5pm; closed Monday.
