The Peerie Shop sells Shetland wool and ceramics; the café behind it is where Lerwick goes for coffee.
It is a low, bright room off a courtyard on the Esplanade, with good coffee, soup and a counter of cakes that goes down through the afternoon. The bakes are made on the premises. In summer the courtyard tables are the best seat in town, and in a Shetland winter the room does the other job a café is for, which is somewhere warm to sit while the weather passes.
