Pentland Hills
Cartshed
Introduction
Set within an 18th-century farmyard in the Pentland Hills, Eastside Cartshed is a carefully considered retreat that combines traditional stonework with a clean, modern interior. The open-plan space is arranged across subtle level changes, with double-height ceilings and large windows drawing in light and framing the surrounding hills.
The living area centres around a wood-burning stove, with soft textures and neutral tones creating a calm, pared-back atmosphere. A well-equipped kitchen sits just above, while the bedroom is partially screened to offer privacy without closing off the space. The bathroom features underfloor heating and a rainfall shower.
Outside, the experience extends into the woodland garden, where a wood-fired sauna sits tucked among the trees, available for private use in allocated time slots. With walking routes from the door and Edinburgh within easy reach.
