Introduction
Often described as Edinburgh’s Hidden Gem this oasis away from the city is thought to be the inspiration behind the House of Shaws in Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel Kidnapped.
A very popular dog walking space, this estate boasts a large stately home, estate ruins, stables, an 18th century Walled Garden and a fascinating history.
The walk around the estate is around 1.5 miles and takes around an hour to complete.
