Edinburgh has more green space than most cities, and some of it is spectacular. There is an extinct volcano in the middle of it, a botanic garden that's been growing since 1670, a loch that's a nature reserve inside the bypass, and a river running twelve miles through the city with a path the whole way.
We've picked out our favourite parks, gardens and hillsides. All of them are free to walk into, and most of them are reachable on foot from the centre.
