Welcome

Under the grand old Scotsman building on Market Street, just down from the Waverley steps, a loud and lively beer hall fills a vast basement.

Brewhemia opened in 2017 and it does everything on a grand scale, with room for hundreds on a busy night.

The centrepiece is the beer. Twelve gleaming copper tanks stand behind the bars, filled with unpasteurised, unfiltered beer, some of it brought by tanker straight from the Czech Republic and some from Scottish brewers, poured fresh from the tank. Around them the hall is a warren of bars and lounges under chandeliers and low lights, with food served through the day and live music on many nights.

It is a place for a big night out, a gathering of friends or a first drink off the train. Tables can be booked for groups.
