Edinburgh Gin Distillery

Beneath the Royal Mile, where East Market Street runs along the railway at Waverley, a row of old stone arches has been given a new front of dark timber and tall glass.

Behind it, since December 2024, Edinburgh Gin has been made in the middle of the city.

The distillery keeps the vaulted brick of the arches and adds a bright new hall where two copper stills stand behind floor-to-ceiling windows, visible from the street. Tours run through the day, from a classic tour and tasting to a chance to make a gin of your own, and a pairing of gin with chocolate. Afterwards there is a bar, a shop of the whole range, and a roof terrace looking up at the Old Town.

The distillery is open every day from eleven in the morning until nine at night. Tours are best booked ahead; the bar and shop welcome anyone passing.
