The World’s End

A pub at the foot of the High Street whose walls take in part of the Flodden Wall, where the walled city once ended, with pies and live music.

Welcome

Halfway down the Royal Mile, where the High Street meets St Mary's Street, a dark-painted corner pub hung with baskets of flowers stands on the line where the old walled city once ended.

The World's End takes its name from that edge: its outer walls take in part of the Flodden Wall, built in the 16th century to defend the Old Town, and for the people who lived inside it, the world ended at the gate.

Inside, the rooms are dark, snug and full of old wood, and the kitchen serves hearty pub food through the day, from pies and fish and chips to burgers and puddings, with Scottish ales and a good range of whisky at the bar. There is live music on many nights.

The World's End opens every day from eleven in the morning until midnight, with food until nine.
