A restaurant on the Canongate run by Paul and Lisa Wedgwood since 2007, cooking Scottish produce with herbs the chef forages himself.

On the Canongate, the lower half of the Royal Mile, a sandstone front with a window dressed in dried flowers and greenery trailing round the door belongs to Wedgwood, the restaurant Paul and Lisa Wedgwood opened in 2007.

Paul is the chef, and he still goes out to forage the unusual herbs and leaves that turn up on the plates.

The cooking brings together Scottish produce and French technique, with a playful touch: roast pork belly with crackling, Scottish lamb and venison, fish from the coasts and puddings to finish. There is an a la carte menu and a longer tasting menu, and a children's menu for younger diners. The room is small and warm, with soft lighting and tables close together.

Wedgwood opens every day for lunch and dinner, less than ten minutes' walk from Waverley. Tables can be booked on its own site.
