The Milkman is an independent speciality coffee shop on Cockburn Street in Edinburgh's Old Town, with shops at numbers 7 and 52.
The Milkman opened in November 2015, and its name and the silhouette in its logo come from the owner's great-grandfather, the last horse-drawn milkman to deliver in Huntly. The espresso is from a local roastery, Obadiah Collective, with beans from other roasteries on the shelves and on filter in rotation, and the baristas are happy to help you choose a cup or a bag to take home.
Alongside a morning selection of pastries there are cakes from local bakeries, with vegan and gluten-free options most days. The shop is small, so it takes no reservations, and dogs are welcome. There is wi-fi, and the doors are open every day from 8am until five in the afternoon, and from 9am on Sundays.
