Welcome

Bramblewood Farm is on the Preston Hall Estate at Pathhead, in Midlothian, about twenty minutes out of Edinburgh.

Nick Holmes started it in June 2025, when he retired after fifteen years in the Army, and it keeps laying hens, meat chickens, sheep and pigs out on grass and in the woodland, with the meat butchered on the farm itself.

Its meat and eggs are sold through the farm’s online shop and delivered across Midlothian and into Edinburgh: order by midnight on Tuesday for delivery on Thursday. The Edinburgh restaurant Cardinal works its kitchen garden here alongside Nick and his family, a regenerative smallholding growing tomatoes, courgettes, beetroot, salad leaves, herbs and flowers for its menus, and whatever the kitchen can’t use comes back to Pathhead as compost. In the growing season the farm holds monthly tours to meet the animals, and monthly work days for volunteers, usually on a Friday afternoon.
