The Beach House, Portobello
A cafe on the promenade at Portobello with tables looking over the sands, known for its cakes, gelato and brunches, open every day.
At the foot of Bath Street, right on the promenade at Portobello, the Beach House has some of the best seats by the sea in Edinburgh.
Its tables stand on the prom above the sands, looking out over the Firth of Forth.
It is a relaxed, friendly place for organic coffee, brunch and lunch, from eggs benedict to toasties and salads, and above all for cake. The counter is crowded with pastries and cakes baked at the Beach House's own bakery in Leith, and there are about ten flavours of gelato and sorbet for a walk along the beach.
There is seating inside and out, so it works in every weather, and it opens every day from eight in the morning until five. A second Beach House cafe is up on Portobello High Street.
