While Bonnie Prince Charlie waited near Monkstadt in 1746, Flora MacDonald sat down to dinner in the house with the officer sent to catch him.

The officer had been posted there with a party of soldiers to watch for the Prince in case he fled to Skye. Flora dined at Lady Margaret MacDonald's table beside him and gave nothing away. James Boswell, who heard the story on Skye in 1773, wrote that she often laughed with the officer about it afterwards, at how well she had deceived him.

The Cabin at Fairygreen is a tiny home for two on Fairygreen Farm, part of the Dunsinnan estate twenty minutes north of Perth, with views of the Sidlaw hills and the Strathmore valley. It was designed in Edinburgh, built in Inverness and made of Sitka spruce grown in the Scottish Highlands. Inside there is a king-size bed with Egyptian cotton linen, a smart TV, a kitchenette with an oven and a mini fridge, and a large walk-in shower, with towels and bathrobes. The best of it is outside.
