Welcome

Thorabella is a working family farm at Dallas, in the Moray countryside south of Forres and Elgin, and it's the place to meet a herd of water buffalo.

Ollie and Nikki Lake bought the farm in 2017, came home from a visit to a buffalo farm with three cows and a young bull, and named the business after their family. The farm shop sells meat from animals reared on the farm, from buffalo steaks, mince, burgers and sausages to Highland beef and pork, with eggs from the hens, honey from the farm's own bees, milk and seasonal vegetables. At weekends The Buffalo Bite serves buffalo burgers, cakes, ice cream and milkshakes from eleven until three. In the October school holidays the farm opens an animal walkaround, where you can meet the buffalo, capybaras, goats, rabbits and emus, with bags of food for them to buy. The shop opens every day from nine until seven. There are straw bale cabins on the farm too, if you'd like to stay.
