The Joinery Coffee Shop
A village coffee shop in Meigle, on the Perthshire side of the Angus border and about twenty minutes by car from Dundee.
There's something lovely about a village coffee shop that makes its soups and baking on the premises, and The Joinery in Meigle is a cosy one.
As the name suggests, the building was once a joiner's workshop, and it has been serving coffee since February 1994. New owners took over in February 2026 and kept on the team, so the scones and cakes are still baked to the Joinery's own recipes. Ask for your sandwich on sourdough from the Wee Bakery at Kilry. On a cold day, find a table near the big log-burner in the middle of the room, and in summer you can sit out on the sheltered deck. Before you leave, have a browse of the gift shop, with work by local makers and artists. The Meigle Pictish Stones are a short walk away, too. You can park at the shop itself, and a ramp makes it easy with a pram or a wheelchair.
