Welcome

Space is a small speciality coffee house on Dumbarton Road in Partick, behind a dark front with its number, 540, painted on the glass and a board outside that says good coffee.

Inside it is bright and cheerful, with pink walls, a pink espresso machine on the counter, a bench of patterned cushions under the window and plants on every shelf.

The coffee is poured with care, flat whites and cortados with latte art in the shape of swans and hearts, and there is iced coffee in a jar when the weather allows. Jars of homemade cookies and slices of cake sit on the counter. Something unusual sets it apart: as well as coffee, Space offers a Chinese tea ceremony, a slower, more considered way to spend half an hour. It is a friendly place, and dogs are welcome. It makes an easy stop on the way along Dumbarton Road to the Riverside Museum or the shops of Partick. Space opens Monday to Saturday from eight in the morning until five, and is closed on Sunday.
