Maple Leaf Bakery
An award-winning bakery and café on Water Row in Govan, by the Clyde, open Thursday to Sunday for croissants, pastries and coffee.
Some of the loveliest pastry in Glasgow comes out of a bright bakery and café on Water Row in Govan, a short walk from the footbridge across the Clyde to the Riverside Museum.
Maple Leaf Bakery is an award-winning bakery that opened its own shop here in 2026, in a light, airy room with plenty of tables. The counter is the thing to see: rows of almond croissants, pain au chocolat, chocolate pain suisse and lemon meringue monkey bread, each with its own handwritten card, alongside cakes, cookies and savoury bakes. Pair one with a coffee or a hot chocolate and take your time over it. It's open from Thursday to Sunday, from 8am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 9am on Sunday, until 4pm. Weekend mornings are the busiest, so an early start pays off. It makes a perfect stop on a walk by the river, with the Govan Stones just round the corner.

Open from Thursday to Sunday.
There is no booking: choose at the counter, then sit in or take away.
