Meadow Road Coffee began on Meadow Road in the West End and now pours on Dumbarton Road in Partick, near the Thornwood roundabout, behind a dark front with tall wooden tables and stools along the pavement.
It is a small, friendly neighbourhood café, known for its coffee, its brunch plates and a counter crowded with cakes.
The house coffee is roasted in Glasgow by Dear Green, served as flat whites and cortados in dark cups with a leaf of latte art. Brunch runs to poached eggs on toast with greens and hollandaise, and eggs on sourdough with avocado, bacon and a balsamic glaze. The counter is the other draw: slabs of brownies and blondies, caramel shortbread, traybakes and cakes, each with a handwritten label, and a chalkboard menu fills the wall above. It opens from eight on weekdays, until three, and from nine at the weekend, until four, and it is a good stop before a walk along the Clyde to the Riverside Museum.
