Saint Luke's & The Winged Ox

Saint Luke's is a church of the 1830s on Bain Street by the Barras, in Glasgow's East End, given a new life as a music and arts venue with a bar and kitchen.

Work began in January 2015, with help from the Glasgow City Heritage Trust, and the old church has been restored to its original look while fitted with the latest sound and lighting.

The main hall is now a stage, where bands play beneath the organ pipes and the tall windows, under a spinning disco ball, and it hosts weddings, parties and special events. The Winged Ox, the bar and kitchen, is open seven days a week and serves stacked burgers and fries, comfort plates and cocktails, with a beer garden of long tables out in front of the church. A great winged ox is painted on the wall outside. Dogs are welcome, and there is a dog of the week. It opens from noon, eleven at the weekend, until midnight or later.

The Winged Ox is open every day: Monday to Thursday from noon to midnight, Friday from noon to 1am, Saturday from 11am to 1am and Sunday from 11am to midnight.
