Preacher's Patisserie

A small home bakery, coffee shop and sandwich bar on Lady Lawson Street, off the Grassmarket, open for breakfast and lunch.

Call
Welcome

Just round the corner from the Grassmarket, on Lady Lawson Street, a bright blue shopfront promises a home bakery, coffee shop and sandwich bar, and Preacher's Patisserie is all three.

It's a small, welcoming place for a Scottish breakfast done simply and well: a filled morning roll, a warm scone with butter and jam, a sausage roll or a pastry from the window, with a cup of coffee alongside. At lunchtime there are sandwiches and hot toasties, and there's always something sweet on the counter for later. There are only a few seats inside, so most people take theirs away, which makes it a handy stop on the way up to the castle or before a wander round the Old Town and the West Port's bookshops. It's open from 8am to 2pm, Monday to Saturday, and closed on Sundays, so come in the morning while the baking is fresh.
